THE PASSCODE TO ENTER IS STORY
Please have ready:
1. Your preferred writing materials (ie fully charged laptop or notebook/pens/pencils). Fine to Zoom in and write on the same computer.
2. (Optional!) An idea for a story. This doesn’t need to be anymore than one line. You’ll be invited to share this idea (summed up into one or two lines) in the Zoom chat in the beginning of class. If you don’t have an idea, no worries.
Masterclass structure: Over the course of this masterclass, I’ll be discussing what makes a powerful, memorable personal narrative, how to use fiction techniques to bring your story to life, and how to express the heart of your story. I’ll be discussing performance techniques for those working on stories for live shows and the most common areas for improvement. You’ll be presenting your own idea and discussing others’ ideas. There will be time for writing and sharing. At most live shows, stories are 5 – 7 minutes, which is roughly 1,000 – 1,200 words, but feel free to work on something shorter or longer. ·
Let me know any questions, and I look forward to seeing you!
